Mark Gatiss, SHERLOCK'S "Six Thatchers," and "Appointment With Death"

If any of you have been watching Sherlock, you'll have noticed in the recently-aired "The Six Thatchers" that it opens with a story about a merchant fleeing Death.  That same story was used in the Poirot adaptation of Appointment With Death, and Mark Gatiss, who plays Mycroft in Sherlock and wrote the episode, appeared in Appointment With Death.  Seems like an Easter Egg tie-in between the two series.

Boris Karloff's best moment in one of his last films TARGETS had him recite the story as well.  Supposedly they wanted to film it in sections with various camera angles, but Boris asked that he do it all in take with the camera coming towards him.  When it was over the cast and crew applauded.

The Fleeing Death story in Sherlock also reminded me of the story told in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows about the 3 brothers who are chased by death.
