The story might be "The Secret of Chimneys" which has characters in it from a mythical Balkan county.  I have not read it myself but that is a place to start.

Hi-I'm looking for an AC expert to help me identify one of her books.  The part I remember the main female character in a  castle in the Balkans having dinner with a repulsive large  wealthy  woman set  on work domination with a few other super powers. Not the Big Four not They  Came to Bagdad but in that vein.  I've read them all many years ago but cannot  find  this one.  Any  help would  be much appreciated.  Elaine4

  • For those trying to determine how many titles are included in the Agatha Christie Mystery Collection published by Bantam I can help.  Putnam Berkeley bought the US rights in 1978 which included 87 titles.  When they published under the Bantam imprint they published these and in addition the autobiography which makes the collection 88.  Dodd, Mead & Co. had owned the rights but were in debt and needed to sell part of their titles.  Any titles not owned by them were not published by Bantam so that is why not all her works were included in the set.  Also, for those wanting information on her works and the different titles under which they were published can search in Wikipedia under "Agatha Christie Bibliography".  It provides a wealth of helpful information.

  • I have recently had to replace my Agatha Christie collection. But several of the books have parts missing from them; sometimes just a sentence or two, sometimes entire scenes. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any ideas where I can get books that are guaranteed not to have this problem?
